What Are Fad Diets?

With the obesity epidemic expected to affect more than fifty percent of the worlds population, the reign of ‘fad diets’ and ‘fast weight loss diets’ has escalated to dizzying heights. From the cabbage diet to the Zone Diet  to the Factor 5 diet, every single one of these dietary dietsall claim to quicken weight loss and   increased metabolic activity.

But do they work?

On occasion… Aside from helping you to witness fast water weight loss, the vast majority of dieters have experienced minimal weight losses of just 1-2lbs before plateauing after 2 weeks.

More disappointingly, once slimmers stopped eating these celebrity fad meals they quickly regained all the weight they lost.

What are the long term health risks of these fads?

Whilst fad diets can help you to witness immediate weight losses, most cannot be used for over 2 weeks

Depriving your body from receivingkeynutrients needed to ensure your body is recieve the energy they need to work efficiently, many involve cutting your calorie consumption to below 1,000 calories a day - if not less – over half your allowance.

Accompanied by countless hours in the gym and constant calorie counting, most of these diets run the danger of causing you to feel weak, tired, unable to focus and more worryingly stop you from functioning properly - None of which are good for your long term health and ultimately your future ability to lose weight.

How can you spot a Fad diet?

Easier than you imagine...Offering you a fast solution to your body concerns, you can easily spot a dietary fads by their:

Too good to be true claims
Minimal of clinical studies
Deletionof one if not more of the five recommended food groups
Recommendations from studies without reviews from other researchers

When a weight loss programme or herbal supplement, it is vital  to deeply analyse their benefits first before adding them into your diet. If there is no medical evidencethat they can achieve safe weight loss, then they are too good to be true.
